Create a NEW custom color for an Excel cell

My company is rebranding and I need to edit our old table in Excel to reflect the new company colors. I need to change the highlighted cells from an Excel stock blue to a custom red color. Our graphic designer gave me the codes but I can't figure out where to put the code into. My Excel doesn't have the "Customize color" option when I select "More Colors" in the paint can drop down OR the theme colors.

I need to add the below colors to the palette. I'm not sure what I'm saying by writing these codes below, but these are the labels on the colors

Red: Pantone 7621C / Web # b5161b

Black: Pantone 419C / Web #000000

My Excel version is 16.55. I'm a Mac user.

    Re: custom colors

The are several websites with a listing of the Pantone Matching System (PMS) Colors

I used... https://toolstud.io/color/pantone.phpExcel uses RGB numbers (Red, Green, Glue) among others, to identify colors.

Excel allows you to dial in a color from the "More Colors" dialog"...

Mac can't be too far removed from the above.

    Hi Cliff,

I posted the link, so people could try out the (free) programs.

(Note: some don't work on a mac as they use a dictionary object)

    Appreciate your concern.

    Hi

The color palette for making custom colors is part of Mac OS.

What you called "web colors" are more properly called "hex colors" from the word "hexadecimal" which is the number system used to distinguish one color from another. When you are in the Mac OS color picker, you can enter the "web color" into the Hex Color # box on the RGB Sliders tab of the Colors dialog.

Doing it this way will add your color to the Recent colors portion of the color picker (see picture below).

However, since you are doing branding, there's a whole lot more you can do. I recommend that you learn about Office Themes and Office colors. You can make the color picker across all Office applications have the official colors your organization uses. Here's how the colors for my employer display in the color picker Notice the special section called Custom Colors. That's where you can put your organization's colors, complete with the idiotic names your company's branding department uses. Office Themes can be distributed and even made to be the default for your company's Macs and PCs. The Themes are cross-platform.

There is a web site that explains how all this works:
