    Hi,

Thanks for posting in our community.

Based on our test in the latest version of Excel 16.56, it seems like the issue did happen that the from file option is missing and only shows the HTML, text, Database these three options. As it seems like the issue can be related to the current version of Excel, kindly submit your feedback to the Excel product team so that they can get informed and fix the issue as soon as possible. See: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office? or Excel · Feedback Community (microsoft.com).

Besides, from my test in the beta channel which is 16.57 or even 16.58, the issue has been fixed though the new options are released. You can get the From file options via clicking Get Data(Power Query...)>Data Resources windows>click Excel workbook>Click Browse to select the file you want. Kindly check the following attached screenshots.

Hence, if there have anything urgent, I'd like to suggest you change the update channel from Current Channel to Current(Preview) or Beta Channel. Kindly check: Update Office for Mac automatically (microsoft.com)(scroll down to Early access with Office Insider section).

Note*: The insider version is best for Insiders who want to use the very earliest builds to identify issues and provide feedback about new features still in development. Insider is ideal for those who don't mind the bit of risk involved in using unsupported builds.*

Your understanding is highly appreciated and hope a nice day for you!!

    Best Regards,

    Mia
