Image Upload Error on SharePoint Sites

Hello!

Many times (not every time) I try to 'upload' my own image to a SharePoint site, I seem to get an upload error image (below). I've tried using Jpeg, png, and PDF. I've also tried 're-sizing' the image. I can't seem to find relevant help on Microsoft Support sites either.

Does anyone know what the requirements are for uploading an image to a SharePoint site?

    Hi Aliyah,

Sorry for all the inconveniences it may have caused on your side.

Based on the description, it seems like there shows an error message frequently when you try to upload images to a SharePoint site. If my understanding is correct, could you kindly do the following tests for us so that we can troubleshoot the issue further and provide the appropriate resolutions efficiently.

1.From the shared screenshot, it seems like you are using Image webpart when editing the site page. If so, to check if the issue only happens when you try to upload a local image, please try to upload other images from the options on left.

2.Use other browsers and check the result.

3.Go to other pages in the issue site and check if you can upload images in other pages.

4.Check if you are able to upload images in other SharePoint sites.

5.Comfirm with other users if they will be able to upload images in the site if it is convenient for you to do so.

    Best Regards,

    Mia

    Hi Mia,

Thanks for the recommendations. I tested and got mixed results:

You're correct my recurring issue is with "uploading" my own images. When using online, stock, or recent images I haven't had this issue.

I tried using Microsoft Edge (typically I use Chrome) and I was actually able to upload the image in question to a different SharePoint site than I'm trying to upload it to. But then I tried in Edge to upload it to the site I want to put it on, and received the same error.

The difference: The one where it worked is a full SharePoint site I created. The one where it's not working is a subsite of a site that someone else created, but that I own the subsite.

    Does that make a difference?

    Hi Aliyah,

Thanks for posting back with the detailed test results.

So it indicates the issue is related with the specific subsite. And if you could confirm with other users(with edit permission to test) if they will be able to upload images, the test results will further narrow down whether the issue is related to your account only or it impacts all users in that subsite page.

If the issue impacts all users, you and the organization need to open a support ticket and engineers there will collect the logs from your tenant side and resolve the issue for you. Sorry that forum engineers here have no resources to collect background information from users' side.

If you are the only user who encounter with the issue on the subsite, kindly ask the site owner to remove your permission thoroughly and add it again to focus SharePoint reactive the connection between your account and the site.

    Best Regards,

    Mia
