I followed this guide Use cell values as a custom Excel file property to help manage your workbooks in a SharePoint library (microsoft.com)

However, while most fields work I have issues with the number field not populating in Sharepoint Document Library Columns:

Custom Properties in my Excel:

Microsoft 365 and Office | SharePoint | For business | Windows

    Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for posting back and sharing the detailed information with us. Glad to know it works when you use a new Excel file and a new document library.

I'm afraid it requires to link to content for the custom property then it can work. Thanks for your understanding.

For the issue that when you use the name "Neto value", it didn't work, I went to test again and it still works from my side.

After checking the screenshots you shared, I found a bit difference between my test and yours.

The property name in your Excel file is Neto_value, but the number type of column in your SharePoint library is Neto value, it doesn’t have a dash between the 2 words.

However, in my test, I make sure both the property name in Excel and column name in SharePoint library is Neto_value, it has a dash.

When testing in Excel, I found that if I set name box for a cell to Neto value, it didn't work, so I chose to keep the dash.

I also did further test on my side and found that it requires exactly same name in both Excel property name and SharePoint column name. As you can see below, I created 2 columns, one is Neto_value, the other is Neto value. Only the Neto_value column shows property's value.

Given this, I recommend you open Properties list in your Excel workbook and make sure the property name is Neto_value. (I notice you miss the slash). And then try to create another Number type of column in your SharePoint document library and set its name to Neto_value, check if it works.

Thanks for your time and effort.

    Best regards,

    Tina

    Hi Sebastian,

Good day to you and hope you are doing well.

I went though the post carefully. I also tried following the steps in the article you mentioned. It seems like it works fine from my side, the number field can show value in my SharePoint document library. Below is my test result.

From the screenshot you provided, I'd like to confirm that did you select Link to content for your custom property? It seems like your Neto column is not linked because it doesn't show the link button, you may refer to the third screenshot I shared above.

I suggest you select your Neto property from the Properties list, then tick the box of Link to content. Then go to SharePoint document library, delete the original uploaded workbook, upload the workbook again and check the outcome.

In addition, for troubleshooting, could you also confirm the following information with us?

1.Does the issue happen in a specific workbook? If you go to set up again in a new workbook and upload it to your SharePoint library, does it work?

2.Does the issue happen in a specific SharePoint document library? If you try a different document library, does it work?

3.What is the version of your Excel application? Please go to File>Account, from right side of the page, capture a full screenshot of Product Information.

Many thanks for your patience and effort. Hope you are keeping safe and well.

    Best regards,

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

a wonderful day to you and thank you for going through the steps of my issue. Following your steps and using the same parameters for Cell reference name and Custom name "Neto" I was able to succeed by creating a brand new excel file and a brand new document library.

However then I went and repeated the same thing for using the name "Neto value", which did not work. Would it be possible for you to look into that?

I suggest you select your Neto property from the Properties list, then tick the box of Link to content. Then go to SharePoint document library, delete the original uploaded workbook, upload the workbook again and check the outcome.

On my initial screenshots I wanted to the feature without the linking, just by assigning the values in custom properties. That should also work right?

1.Does the issue happen in a specific workbook? If you go to set up again in a new workbook and upload it to your SharePoint library, does it work?

As described above it works on brand new workbook and document library by using a single word property.

2.Does the issue happen in a specific SharePoint document library? If you try a different document library, does it work?

    Described above.

3.What is the version of your Excel application? Please go to File>Account, from right side of the page, capture a full screenshot of Product Information.

Thanks Tina, that is trully probably the case.

I do have a connected issue where I want to move a Document Library from Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 to the latest Sharepoint.

I was able to download all the files and the files retained the document Library Properties (View or change the properties for an Office file (microsoft.com))

Some of the properties show up in the columns of the new Sharepoint, but some do not (for example this Racun ID):

Is there a better way to move this library?

    Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for posting back, glad to know the suggestion is helpful to you.

About the connection issue that you want to move a document library from Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to latest SharePoint(I guess you mean SharePoint Online in Microsoft 365).

I want to help you, but very sorry to say that since we mainly focus on SharePoint Online general questions, I'm afraid we don't have related resource and environment to help you troubleshoot the issue related to Windows SharePoint Servers. Very sorry about it.

We have a dedicated channel Microsoft Q&A Community where members and engineers may be familiar with this kind of questions, I sincerely recommend you try to post this question in Q&A Community, they will focus on your specific situation and provide specific suggestions.

Your patience and understanding will be highly appreciated. Hope you are keeping safe and well.

    Best regards,

    Tina
