Hi,

I seem to be having a problem with an Excel 2016 binary workbook crashing while trying to save after the latest Power Query update. It saves fine on the older version but crashes after updating Power Query to the newer version. Could someone please assist?

    Hi Jen,

I have tried this fix and unfortunately it hasn't resolved the problem. The problem is only with one specific document which is an "Excel Binary Workbook", if we try to save it in a different format it works and a newly created Excel Binary Workbook saves fine, but just this specific one doesn't, I think it may be due to the links that it contains.

Also note that it saves fine with the older version of Power Query but as soon as upgrading to the newer version it crashes while trying to save.

    Hi Faheem,

If you copy and paste the data to a new workbook and save it in xlsb format, do you still get the same error? Thanks in advance.

    Kind Regards.

    Hi Jen,

Copying and pasting the data into a new document still hasn't resolved the problem. It's when trying to save an "Excel Binary Workbook" that this happens.

I think that this is a bug with the latest Power Query update and Microsoft needs to find a fix for this please.
