Hello,

I recently tried to access a series of powerpoint created in 2018 and they are missing. I had created backups and they are gone from the cloud. I have downloaded the newest version of Powerpoint but they are still gone.

Hi

Because you are having problems across many storage venues, it would seem that the problem is with your file system. Run a robust disk maintenance utility. Use it to verify the startup volume and all attached volumes. Before doing any additional troubleshooting, make sure the file system is OK.

If the problem persists, there could be a problem with your Mac OS user account. Go to System Preferences > Accounts. Make a new user account and boot to that account. Test in the new account. Any change?

    Hi Tin,

I have lost hundreds of powerpoint that were filed in various files in Documents. These were backed up on the Cloud and on an external hard drive (which has not been plugged into my computer) and they are missing from those locations too. Because I do not access these files on a regular basis, I don't know when they disappeared, but they were there two years ago when I backed everything up on the Cloud and on the drive.. Other powerpoint created in the past two years (and earlier) are not lost and I do have Powerpoints from about 10 years ago that I can access.. I do not intentionally back files up on OneDrive but I do have access to it through my university and have consulted it. While there are some old files there, none are the ones I am looking for.

As far as I know, I have not upgraded my operating system. Right now I am using Powerpoint version 16.54.

I have received no error messages when I look for these Powerpoints. I simply open the file where I stored them and there is nothing there.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer Egeria:

According to your description, we understand that you have lost the backup file.

We would like to know how you backed up these files and whether you save these files in OneDrive for Business?

If you saved it in OneDirve, please log in to the Office portal to find the OneDrive application to see if you can find your file.

At the same time, we also want to point out that the loss of files is not much related to the version of the application. Have you done any special operations, such as upgrading your operating system?

If the above information is not helpful to you, please provide the following information so that we can understand your situation more specifically:

    • Information about the version of PowerPoint you are using.
    • How do you back up your files, whether they are saved locally or in OneDrive, or backed up by other software?
    • We noticed if you tried to access these files, whether there is an error message, if there is any error message, please take a screenshot and share it with us.

    Best regards,

    Tin
