My color coded Sharepoint calender doesn't sync with Outlook

Question

I have a SP calendar that synced with Outlook just fine. Then I added color-coded category overlays and now when I sync the calendar to Outlook, no events show up. Is there a way to fix this? I don't need the event's color codded in outlook btw - I just want to see them, they only need to be color-coded in SP.

Please tell me I don't have to choose between color-coding and syncing with Outlook!

As per your description, it seems when you added color-coded into SharePoint online calendar and when sync the calendar to Outlook, no color-coded events show up in outlook, it only shows up in SharePoint calendar.

As you mentioned,” I added color-coded category overlays” I Adding Colors to Event Categories with Overlay Feature in SharePoint online calendar and when I click Connect to Outlook, add events in the SharePoint Calendar in the outlook, the events are synced to both Calendar view and color-coded view in the SharePoint Calendar.
