Excel 2019 display problem

When I open a new Excel file, it will automatically display cells, sheets, everything from right to left.

I have been having this problem since I changed setting by mistake --

(Setting)

File -> Excel Option -> Details ->

Display settings when you work on the sheet(S): sheet1▼

・・・

□Display sheet from right to left (W)

・・・

(I am using Excel in Japanese so this↑ might different from what you see in your screen.)

I had no idea on this and checked the box once, and found this setting totally makes no sense to me. So I unchecked the box.

However, since then, all new excel sheets are displayed from right to left automatically. I never want excel to do this.

Can you solve this problem?

Excel 2019 for Windows.

    Hi noname_483

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    Based on your description, don't worry, we can work together to keep getting closer to the answer.

    According to the category Microsoft 365 and office software you posted, we can know that your problem is "After changing the settings before, and selecting the display worksheet from right to left, the new Excel worksheet will be automatically displayed from right to left" if My understanding is wrong, feel free to correct me. I can understand that sometimes it's annoying that something goes wrong, and the fact that it hasn't been resolved is frustrating.

    According to your situation, we found this option in Office 365. Did you check this option before, as shown in the following screenshot:

    We may trouble you to provide more detailed information. After you create a new Excel worksheet, whether this option is still checked? If still checked. It may be that your Excel component has a certain setting failure. We recommend that you reset the Excel program to return the application to an initial state, and then check whether there is a problem. You can follow the steps below, I hope it will help you:

    1. Quit all Office programs

    2. Make sure there are no files in the following folders:

    1) Navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART, press Enter to check if there is a file, if so, delete it, if not, close it;

    2) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\XLSTART or C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\XLSTART to see if there is a file, if so, delete it as well , if not, close;

    3. Press and hold Windows key + R key at the same time, enter regedit, and press Enter;

    4. Navigate to the following keys in turn, and rename the word folder (right-click it and select Rename, such as renaming Excel to Excelold);

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel

    5. After doing the above, review the problem.

    Hello Candy,

    Thank you so much for your reply, and sorry for my late response.

    So : I can't say thank you enough. Finally I can open new excel files without that odd display settings. You saved me, honestly you saved my time changing every file settings. It really was troublesome to me.

    FYI I could follow your instruction through 2 to 4, but for 1, there are no "AppData" dir under C:\Users\username in my drive. Idk why but somehow it worked.

    Thank you again. You made my day.
