I'm starting university with a UQ account. Onenote is not letting me create a Notebook. It says "We were unable to create your notebook. Check your internet and try again". My internet is fine, and I tried logging in and out and restarting. What do I do?

Hi,

Thanks for posting back with the information we need and it cleared the cause of the issue.

OneNote and other storage services like saving a Word document or Excel workbooks, your own files will all be saved to your own cloud space called "OneDrive/SharePoint". And without being assigned to this cloud storage license, users won't be able to save anything to the cloud, which caused the issue on your side that can't save a notebook.

So now, to fix this issue and start to use OneNote, please contact the admin/IT department in your school and confirm this situation with them. Saying like as there has no license called "SharePoint", it's not available for me to create a notebook as it needs the cloud storage space normally called "OneDrive/SharePoint".

They should get the point immediately, and share the following screenshot with them also, which is an example of a normal account subscription including license.

    Hi,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused by the problem.

From the description provided, we do understand that OneNote gives you an error while you try to create a new notebook. In this situation, we would like you to confirm whether you access your OneDrive for Business of your student account and try to create a notebook from there? This may exclude any possible cache or influences from the OneNote desktop app side.

Sign into to your university account in browser to access www.office.com > Click on OneDrive icon in the left quick access bar on the Home page> + New> OneNote notebook> Give a name and click on Create. Then try to edit something on the new notebook in browser, then try to open the created notebook from the OneNote desktop app to see if it can open and sync successfully.

However, if the issue persists even in the browser that can't create a notebook or it still shows any error in OneNote app, please provide the following details so that engineers here can have a better understanding of the scenario and offer further resolutions appropriately.

1.The screenshot of the subscription of your school account. Go: My account (office.com)

2.The screenshot of any errors after you followed the browser steps.

3.If you are using OneNote 2016 or OneNote for Windows 10 application locally? In case you need: What's the difference between the OneNote versions? (microsoft.com)

    Best Regards,

    Mia
