Excel 365 Stuck in OPEN FILE loop

Hello Guys,

I'm a Corporate user and we have a Workbook that manage a project Portifolio. In this workbook, we connect around 150 another Workbooks using connectios.

We realize that this file started a loop when we try to open this portifolio file and we already have another XLSX opened.

Have someone had any problem like this?

Could be just a lag time caused by the 150 connections?

According to your description, your workbook has 150 other workbooks connections. When you try to open the workbook, it is stuck in open loop. It seems like it hangs upon opening.

May I know if my understanding of the scenario is right?

If yes, I searched a lot for this kind of issue. Other users having similar issue mentioned that the situation may happen if the connections are set to refresh automatically when opening the file.

If you are willing, you may try following steps and check the outcome:

1.Open the workbook in protected view.

Firstly close the workbook. Open Excel application, go to File>Open>Browse, in the Open windows, select your workbook and click Open > choose "Open in Protected View".

2.Or you may try following way:

Open Excel application, go to File>Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings>External Content>under "Security settings for Workbook Links", select "Disable automatic update of Workbook Links" and click OK.

And go to Options>Advanced>scroll down and find "When calculating this workbook">Uncheck the checkbox of Update links to other documents.

Go to open the workbook again and check the outcome.

1.Does the issue happen in the specific workbook? If yes, if you try to send the workbook to a different computer and open it, does same behavior still happen?
