Changing data in a Microsoft List Column

We have a Microsoft List than contains all of our members names and info. Included is the dues amount they pay for the year. Each year changes, and now it is time to change the amount. I have over 600 members and do not want to do it manually. I thought if I made the column a choice, and then updated the choices that would change them, but no.....

We have 8 different amounts for dues depending on 8 categories, but really only use 4 of them. Is there an easy way to change the amount currently to the new amount. For example if they currently pay $100, but next year will pay $125, can I simply update all the $100 dues to $125??

Hi Bobby AEA,

To change the existing data in a column, I would suggest you edit the list in grid view. The data cannot update automatically, we have to update it manually, and the easiest way would be editing in grid view.

Reference: Update information at the speed of type: Edit in grid view

If you have same information to be updated in all the fields, you can use drag to fill feature (just like Excel) to fill down the information.

  1. Click Edit in grid view
  2. Select one or more cells you want to use as a basis for filling additional cells.
  3. Rest your cursor in the lower-right corner so that it turns into a plus sign.
  4. Drag the fill handle down to the cells that you want to fill.

Besides, if you are okay to create a new column, then you can consider using a calculated column and use If function to apply a formula based on the existing columns.

Reference: IF function

Neha
