Problems with File sharing

Hi I have recently updated my Microsoft word app on computer and iPhone but I have not been able to share files ever since.

Computer responds with “unable to prepare file for sharing”. Anyway need these files sent of so please tell me the problem if you can??!!!

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience the problem caused for you.

Based on your description, when you try to share Word files within Word application, an error "unable to prepare file for sharing" will occur after updating Office app. I tested it on my side, there was no problem.

You can try to fix Office client, by performing a repair. Try a quick repair first, and if that doesn't work, try the online repair.

If the problem persists, could you please provide some information for me?

  1. Please provide a screenshot of your Word version(open PowerPoint > File > Account > capture a screenshot of the full Product Information column)
  2. If you click the "Share" button in the ribbon, will the same error occur?
  3. If you go to your OneDrive Online to share the file, can you share it successfully?
  4. Does the problem happen on other Office applications, such as: PowerPoint, Excel?
