Word search problem

I have noticed a change when searching in a Word document. Let's say I am looking for the word 'disinformation'. Previously, I could start typing it and, by the time I hit 'disi', I would be shown words with those letters. Now, I have to type the entire word, which takes longer. I don't think I have changed anything. Any suggestions, please?

    Click in the document.

Press Ctrl+H to activate the Replace dialog.

Click in the "Find what" box.

Type something - it does not matter what.

    Click More >>

Make sure that the check box "Find whole words only" is clear (not ticked).

    Click "Find Next".

    Close the Replace dialog.

Now try typing in the search box in the Navigation pane again.
