Excel online default sheet view changes when open in the desktop app

Using Excel online sheet views works pretty well in a browser or Teams view. They also appear to be available when opened in the desktop application provided the file is stored in SharePoint or OneDrive. However, I have found that if I have the workbook open in the desktop app and I change the sheet view to something other than the Default view and make an edit to a record (or even save without making edits), the Default view takes on the settings of the current sheet view. Is this a known issue that will be resolved at some point?

I found a few similar posts from Jul 11 and Aug 17, 2020 but nothing to indicate there is a verified bug https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/excel-prevent-automatic-changing-in-default-sheet/4ece5086-fd10-4274-a638-cd5cda509a8ahttps://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/why-are-sheet-views-showing-other-users-changes/81924dd8-6c6e-4397-b56e-72ae640151da.

    Dear Soon,

    Welcome to the forum here.

Thanks for reporting the issue here. I do a test and I can reproduce such an issue in our environment as well. The Default Sheet view is set in Excel Online after you open the Excel file in the Excel application and change the view to a custom view even though the custom view is showed correctly in Excel Online as well. I think that it may be a point needed to be improving in Excel Online.

Sorry for that our category may have no escalation channel fixing it and it is needed to be fixed by our related team directly. I kindly suggest you click on File>Feedback in the Excel application as soon as possible to report this to our related team directly so that they can be aware of it for the product improvements.

Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day!

    Cliff
