Setting up Microsoft Authenticator on two mobile devices

I have a mobile phone (Samsung S21 Ultra) with the authenticator app installed and running fine. Would like the add the app to my Samsung Tab A so that they both display the same codes. How do I go about doing that?

Hi. I'm Brian and I will do my best to help you.

Which authenticator are you using? The Google Authenticator, for example, will back up the shared secrets to your Google account and you can restore them to another copy of the Google authenticator. The Authy authenticator does that as well. I believe the Microsoft authenticator can also.

When I wanted to have two authenticator apps showing the same information, I just scanned the QR code the site generated with both authenticators. Since the QR code contains the shared secret, they both could work. I didn't even have to do it at the same time because I save a copy of the QR code in a file that I was able to scan later on the second authenticator.
