Insert Object (Excel Sheet) Feature does not work.

Question

I use Microsoft Word's Insert Object feature, specifically inserting Microsoft Excel sheet in the document (insert > text > object > microsoft excel worksheet) because i find it really efficient.

However, I recently noticed that whenever I use the feature, the excel sheet is invisible but the object is there and when I click on it the Excel window pops up and I see the data input. The same thing happens when I open previous files (which were made on the same computer using the same feature). I've tried uninstalling, deleting the files from ~library/preferences/ and ~library/containers and reinstalled the whole microsoft 365 bundle but to no avail.

I've also tried inserting a document as object within the document and it appears. :(

Cells 1A and 1B should have been visible in the selected object on Word.

Is there any way this can be remedied? Also subquestion, is there a proper way to uninstall (like fully uninstall) microsoft 365 on a mac so that when I re-install it, it's a clean slate?

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

Per the description shared, I understand the concern facing at your end and tested the behavior in the latest Word version 16.56, where I can reproduce a similar behavior at my end. However, when I test in the previous version 16.55, I can't reproduce the behavior. So, I request you submit the report on the behavior to the developing team via app feedback which is the best way to report it.

If this behavior is causing a delay with your work, I request you download the 16.55 version of the Word app at your end and use the 16.55 to use the embed objects. Reference: Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Docs
