Taskbar Preview - Keep Excel Window Previews Open After Closing One Window

Hi all,

Apologies for the clunky title.

I'm having issues with the Excel document preview bar closing after I close a document using the [X] at the top right of the preview. The preview bar used to stay open, and I could continue closing documents.

I don't have the same issue with Word, the preview bar stays open and I can continue to close documents.

I have tried to find a solution using Google, but I'm not finding anything relevant.

Is there a setting within Excel that I need to change?

I couldn't find anything in Taskbar Settings that made any difference to my problem.

On my taskbar, I have my settings as follows (abbreviated):

 Lock the taskbar - On

 Use Peek - On

 Show badges - On

 Taskbar location - Bottom

 Combine - Always

Multiple displays

Show taskbar on all - On

 Show taskbar buttons - All

 Combine buttons - Always

(Any settings not listed are either off or N/A)

Thanks in advance,

Dominique

    Dear Dominique,

Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Please confirm if I understand the scenario correctly. When you close Excel through Taskbar Preview, the file doesn’t close and remains open.

If my understanding doesn’t match your scenario, please post back and point that.

Generally, if we close a local or new Excel file that contain changes, we are prompted if we want to save the file, and application will not be closed until we choose aa option.

As you mentioned this behavior applied only to Excel, to narrow down the source of this issue, may I know if it happens with all Excel files or the certain ones?

    Sincerely,
