The orientation button is missing from my Excel tab

I'm having issues with the text aligning vertically in excel spreadsheet. It appears the way to fix this is to align text horizontally via the Orientation button under the "Alignment" section. However, I can't find the orientation button and when I try to search for it nothing comes up. Any suggestions?

    Dear G,

Can you see the button under Home? You can use Format Cell Alignment as well.

Meanwhile, I'd like you to upload a full screenshot of the Account page in the Excel application you are using for our reference. You can access the page via clicking on File>Account.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

    Thank you Cliff,

Sure thing. I understand your suggestions but my problem is that I don't have that "orientation" button in my toolbar. Here are two screenshots. There is no "orientation" icon or "format cell alignment" option.

When I try to type into the cell it types backwards and vertical.

For example, this is what I saw on screen when I typed "h-e-l-l-o"

         Thank you

    Dear G,

Thanks for your updates and providing the screenshots.

As you are using Excel for the web, I'm afraid that the orientation option isn't available in Excel for the web. You may use the Excel application to use the feature.

For your reference: Align or rotate text in a cell

It seems that there is wrap text setting (ALT+Enter) for the text you enter. I suggest you select the cell and click on Wrap Text in Excel for the web to see if the issue goes away in your environment.

    Sincerely,

Thank you for your help and response.

I actually l do have excel on my desktop. I tried opening the project there and am able to type into the cells without a problem. I also saw the orientation button there as you mentioned.

However, I need to have the spreadsheet available online as there are multiple users viewing and updating it.

I also tried your suggestions to click the wrap text button in a cell. That doesn't seem to solve the issue. However, I noticed that if I start typing into the cell then delete the text that is written backwards and vertically 2-3 times by the 3-4 try it will start typing normally horizontally. This leads me to conclude there is some sort of coding error or other malfunctin at play.

I have been using this exact spreadsheet since March and have only yesterday noticed this issue.

    Please advise.
