Different bullet list style, if I use keyboard shortcut

As you can see in the image below, if I use CTRL+SHIFT+L I have a bullet style, differente from the one I have if I click on the bulle list button (it is more indented).

Why I have this? Why are they not the same?

I'm using the latest desktop word version.

Thank you

The shortcut Ctrl+Shift+L applies the built-in List Bullet paragraph style. You can verify the style name if you click in the text paragraph and press Ctrl+Shift+S to display the Apply Styles pane.

The bullet format you get when clicking on the Bullet icon is different, in most cases. Actually, Word tries to apply the most recently selected format when you click the Bullet icon.

For more control, use the style. It can of course be customized as desired.

Stefan thank you, but there is something strange. First of all, in my opinion, both should apply List Bullet paragraph style of my normal dot template.

Moreover, please look at this animateg gif: they apparently have the same style, but the really bad thing is that they have a different formatting.

It seems a bug, not a feature

Word tries to mimic the most recently selected bullet format when you click the Bullet button, but that does not work with style-based bullet formatting.

By default, the Bullet button applies the List Paragraph style and then applies a bullet format from the gallery on the Home tab.

My suggestion is that you never use the Bullet or Numbering button. Instead, for consistency, apply the appropriate paragraph style with the desired bullet or number formatting.

Specifically, for bullets, have a look at https://shaunakelly.com/word/bullets/controlbullets20072010.html.

For multilevel list numbering, see https://shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/numbering20072010.html.

    It's really a bad editor.

Moreover if I create a third order indenting (starting from CTRL+SHIFT+L), and than click on Enter, than on shift + tab, the cursor go back to the first order, and it's impossible to use tab, to create a second order list. Look at this animated GIF

    Very bad editor.

Ctrl+Shift+L applies the List Bullet style which is formatted as a single-level bulleted list. You can set up a bulleted list with multiple levels. For example, you can use List Bullet for level 1, and add different styles for the lower levels. For more, see https://shaunakelly.com/word/bullets/controlbullets20072010.html.
