Rules functionality stopped working on my Google Mail Account in Office 2016

I'm using Office 2016. I use the rules function quite extensively. All of a sudden they don't work. I am unable to manage rules or create new ones. Also, the current ruled are not being applied. I get this error: "You are currently working offline. To use this command you must go online and connect to Microsoft Exchange." I have 3 accounts in Outlook. My Google mail account and 2 Microsoft Exchange accounts. I don't use rules for the MS Exchange accounts but I am able to use the rules functionality on the mail in those accounts. All my rules are created for my Google Mail account but it is in that account I am unable to use rules. Thanks

    Hello David,

Are you working offline? Look in the status bar on the lower right - does it say working offline? If so, go to the Send / Receive tab and click the Work offline button once and wait a couple of minutes for it to come back online.
