Dictation Doesnt work in One Note

Hi,

Dictation doesnt work in one note.

My microphone works perfectly when use the voice search in google for instance, but in one note I get the message:

"There is a problem with your microphone. Office cannot start capturing audio from the microphone"

I'm Mukesh and I will be happy to help you out with your question.

Can you please share the OneNote version you are using ? You might be using the OneNote 2016 application that's why you aren't able to use the Dictation feature. It's only working in OneNote for Windows 10 and OneNote on the web versions and it's only available for Office 365 subscribers.

If you're using a microphone built in to your computer, try switching to an external microphone that you plug in to your computer. Also check if you have given app permissions for using Mic.

-Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone . In Allow access to the microphone on this device, select Change and make sure Microphone access for this device is turned on.
-Then, allow apps access to your microphone. In Microphone settings, go to Allow apps to access your microphone and make sure it's turned on.
-Once you've allowed microphone access to your apps, you can change the settings for each app. In Microphone settings, go to Choose which Microsoft apps can access your microphone, and turn on apps you want to use with it. For desktop apps, make sure that Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is turned on.
