DATA IS SCATTERED

I have a simple spreadsheet where I keep track of COD customers. Date, Name, Cust #, Check #, amt, etc. I recently noticed info is no longer together and has been scattered. I only noticed because I highlight COD's that have not been paid. So when I saw yellow cells thrown about randomly (instead of in complete rows), I knew something was wrong and the info was no longer together.

I have filters, but no formulas or charts, etc. Just a simple sheet where I enter info and move on. And now it is a complete untrusted source of important information!

Example:

What info was...

A3 1/20/2022, B3 Barbara Bell, C3 Check# 100

A700 9/20/2022, B700 Bert Bannon, C700 Check# 243

Vs what it is now...

A3 9/2022, B3 Barbara Bell, C3 check 543

A700 6/12/2022, B700 Clyde Corey, C700 Check 243

I honestly don't know how much is wrong since I would have never known if not for those lines that were highlighted. To find them suddenly broken apart and scattered across a vast sea of data is super unnerving. I can't figure out what went wrong for my data to be scattered like this. I can't trust the info. Is there a way to get this back to the way it was??? I've been googling for days but can't find an answer. At least not with how I have been searching.

    It is not shared.

The filter is not on. I use the drop down box only when I need to. I was just letting you know I do not have any formulas but I do have a filter in place. And I have tried selecting all and then clearing it.

It's all pretty confidential. It's account numbers and order numbers, etc, so I wrote over some of the info and deleted rest to take a screenshot.

So all those yellow lines in the screenshot next to Jan dates belong with Aug details. You'll find yellow boxes in Aug connected to other info in screenshot 2. Basically, info is scattered and I do not know to what extent since I wouldn't have caught it if not for the highlighted lines breaking apart. I'd have to check every order against the system and re-do an entire new sheet. What could cause this? Thanks

    Dear Artemis,

    Welcome to the forum here.

From your description, it seems that each row of the Excel data doesn't show the correct values in the Excel file.

If yes, may I know whether the Excel file is shared online and edited by other users?

It seems that you have filters on the Excel file. If you clear he filters, what's the result?

About the issue in your environment, could you upload some related screenshots?

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

Thanks for your effort and time.

    Sincerely,

    Cliff | Microsoft Community Moderator
