MS Forms Cross Organization Ownership

Question

Hi,

If you create a MS Form using your organization's MS domain, are you able to co-own it with another individual from a different organization/MS ecosystem? I am part of a board that consists of individuals from a variety of companies. Each company uses the MS suite; however, rather than being issued a second set of MS credentials for the board, we have opted to stand up a SharePoint and invite each individual via their respective company MS emails. Ideally, I would be able to use my current company's MS email to create the survey but I'm concerned I will have issues sharing ownership with another individual that is part of a different MS ecosystem. Can you please advise?

Note: In the event I leave my current company, it is also paramount that the survey will be able to live on/be accessed by the individuals I share ownership with outside of my organization.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, if your account was expired and the other users would no longer have the permission to access/edit/use the original form.

Here are two choices:

1.If you still want to keep the form under your tenant, you could change the ownership of this form(only for users in the same tenant): Manage Your Forms Easily with Ownership Transfer (microsoft.com) and you will have to send the collaborate link again to the users.

2.If you are going to use another tenant, duplicate your form and save a copy under the new tenant as mentioned in my earlier reply.

Thank for the reply. So if I create an MS Form using my current credentials and use the collaborate feature to work with users outside of my org, will they still be able to access/edit/use the form if my email gets decommissioned? Or will they lose access since I would be the only owner?

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Basically, one form only have one owner in Microsoft Forms, it means only the creator of the form has the ownership of the form. But we could use the collaborate feature to invite users outside of your organization to edit the form together with the permission: Users with an Office 365 work or school account can view and edit. Please check this article for further information: Share a form or quiz to collaborate (microsoft.com)

Meanwhile, you could also choose to share your form as template so the users could duplicate your form and save a copy under their account, they would be the owner of the copy. For reference: Share a form or quiz as a template (microsoft.com)
