Based on your description, Insert key doesn't work properly in Word for Mac on your side. May I confirm that whether you mean all the features under Insert in the ribbon doesn't work?
Here are some suggestions, and I hope they can help you:
- Try safe mode to exclude local environment impact. You can launch a safe mode/boot on Mac OS, to check if issue caused by cache or directory issue with startup disk.
- You can remove folder like ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word(you can press command +shift +G and enter the route to go the folder, move it to desktop, check if the issue is solved, if so, you could move it to trash, if not, restore it).
If the problem persists, could you please provide some information for me?
- Please provide us with a screenshot on your current Office for Mac version.
- Does the problem happen on all the Word files?
- Does the problem happen on other Office applications, such as: Excel, PowerPoint?
- Did you make any change before the problem happen, such as: Office update, OS update?
