Compile error in hidden module: SolverCode

I keep getting a problem with this error message.

I'm not using Solver. It keeps coming up when I edit anything.

I have used solver but not on this machine and not on the files I'm opening.

The page on the help link is ridiculously long and makes no sense.

Please advise.

    Dear JenDingbat,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Please try  Opening Office apps in safe mode to check whether there is an add-in or extension that may be causing a problem on startup.

Also, please check this:File / Options / Trust Center / Trust Center Settings...  / ActiveX Settings

Make sure the first option: "Disable all controls without notification" is unchecked.

If you still experience this phenomenon, please inform us of the following information

    • The version information of Excel you are using (File - Account - version information)
    • Does this happen with other Office applications (e.g. PowerPoint)?

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
