Cannot open any SharePoint Version history Error

Hi there,

I'm trying to restore a version history of an excel document but when I open any of the previous versions I get an error, even if a make a change to the current document the previous version does not become available.

If I open up the latest document and version history and see the changes everyone has made, I'm not sure whether it shows the same data?

I have tested this on different SharePoint sites I encounter the same problem.

It is also connected to a team's Channel.

Dear Mohammed Uddin1,

Good day.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand the issue has affected your daily work. Sorry for the inconvenience caused at your end.

In our tests here, no similar problems occurred. We can open the previous version of the file normally.

Before we proceed, I would like to confirm the following information so that we can narrow down your scenario:

  • Does this issue also occur if you restore historical versions directly from the client? (Go to FileInfo.)Ref:Restore a previous version of a file without unwanted changes (microsoft.com)
  • Do your colleagues have this problem too?
  • At the same time, I also noticed that your historical version information seems to be more than 5000, which is not normal, so I wonder if you still have this problem if you try to open a file with fewer versions.

Sincerely,

Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
