Word 2021 split view problem

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me with this niggling problem.

I am writing a book, it is around 450 pages long. When I go to split view so I can see two parts of the doc at the same time, the page I am on, say 250, for example, stays but the split screen below always goes to the top of the document! I can of course, scroll it to the position I want to work from but that defeats the object of the exercise! Any ideas? I am using Windows 11 (this also happened with Win 10!) and Microsoft Office 2021. Thanks

Are you not able to scroll to the other part of the document that you want to see?

If you put the selection in the split that is at the top of the document, you can use Home>Find>Go To to go to the page that you want to see.

Hi, thank you for your reply. The answer is yes, I am able to scroll, use go to, etc. it's just that I often need to see two different parts of the same page to move text around, which is why I use 'split' quite a bit. I can, of course, just scroll on the bottom split to where I want to be, but that's obviously not how it is meant to work. I would add that split works perfectly well with all other word docs, so its something to do with this particular book doc. it's a bit of a conundrum, as there is something stopping it working in just this one doc. A setting maybe?
