An error occurred in your Excel workbook. To get a complete set of the most updated responses, sync the data to a new workbook.

How to fix and sync MS Forms to the same workbook and NOT to a new one?

It is critical that the data is on sync to the old excel workbook I had due to links, connections, workflows, etc., to this file.

    Hi Jordy,

We appreciate that you posted back and confirmed the detailed scenario with us.

We read your description, and we found that you created the form via Forms for Excel and you encountered the sync issue while opening the Excel file, and you don’t want to sync the data to new workbook.

If my understanding is right, for the situation you encountered, we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

We have also tested it on our side, and we cannot reproduce the same situation as yours. Generally, when you encountered such issue, you can choose to sync to new workbook and it may help solve this issue.

However, we noticed that you don’t want to sync to new workbook, and we cannot reproduce the same situation, we assumed this issue may be related to connection between this workbook and form, and it may need to be checked from background. The best way to troubleshoot the issue is to report the issue to the related Team. We’d suggest you contact your office 365 administrator to go to Office 365 Admin Center-> Support-> New Service Request, the support engineers there have the correct escalation channel and this is the most efficient way to report such issue. You can refer to this article to check the way how to raise a ticket. Ways to contact support for business products - Admin help.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Best Regards,

    Sukie

    Hi Jordy_agd,

First, my pleasure to assist you.

As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

It seems you have sync issues with your Microsoft Forms and Excel workbook data.

Generally, when you create your form in OneDrive for work or school, SharePoint Online, Excel for the web, or using the Microsoft Forms web part, we can select Open in Excel to get an Excel workbook that is automatically stored on OneDrive for work or school or SharePoint Online. This workbook contains a live data connection to your form, and any new response data in your form will be reflected in your workbook.

As per your error message, could you please check this article and see the outcomes.: How to ensure your form and workbook are in sync

Meanwhile, could you please confirm does this issue happened to specific Microsoft Form or all Form as well from your side.

I appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

    Best regards

    Waqas Muhammad

    Hi Waqas Muhammad,

thank you very much for your reply and follow-up.

The problem is exactly what you stated: 'sync issues with Microsoft Forms and Excel workbook data'.

I checked the documents that you shared in advance before I posted my issue.

However, I didn't find there how to: fix and sync MS Forms to the same workbook and NOT to a new one?

In the past, I needed to create a Forms for Excel, so my survey answers would sync automatically to an Excel where I can pull data from.

    However, now the connection broke.

I need to sync the MS Forms answer to the same file (and not to a new one) because I linked this Excel file data to other O365 tools (e.g., Power BI).

All my other MS Forms were working correctly, just not this one suddenly :(

    Again thank you very much!

    Best regards,
