Can't use multiple Ctrl-Vs to paste the same thing in multiple cells??

In the past I was able to copy something and then use Ctrl-V to paste in multiple times, over and over in different cells and that now doesn't seem to work.

Yes, I know I can paste to multiple cells by highlighting them by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on them and then paste to all the multiple cells at once. That's not what I want to do and not the same thing from a user standpoint.

Did this feature get purposefully taken out of Excel or is there now a toggle / selection that I need to enable? If it was taken out, why??

Dear Matthew Miller1,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

Based on my test result, I'm able to copy cell content and use keyboard short key "CTRL+V" to paste in multiple times in different cells over and over within same Excel sheet and even in difference sheet in a same workbook.

Since it doesn't work form your side.  As the crash issue can be caused by different reason, I will appreciate you can try the normal troubleshooting steps 1 by 1 below and tell us the result.

1.Make sure you’ve updated Office to the latest version that some issues can be resolved with such method.

  1. To check if this issue could be caused by the incompatible add-ins, try open your Excel insafe mode which allow you to safely use it when it has encountered certain problems.
  2. Try toperform a clean boot in Windowsto determine whether a background program is interfering with Office program.
  3. If still can’t work, please try torepair an Office application to fix the problem.

If the issue still persists, could you please provide some information for us to better understand.

  1. What’s your Excel version? Open Excel > File > Account > Production Information and share a screenshot of it.  (Please mask your private information.)
  2. Does the issue happens on all files or a specific one?
  3. Whether other applications also get the same problem?

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

Sincerely,

Waqas Muhammad
