When you use the term "text box" are you referring to a Legacy Text Form Field in a document\template that is protected for Filling in Forms?

Hello,
I have a user that's having trouble with a macro-enabled protected Word document. It's exactly like the question here, except I've discovered what's happening is when a character is deleted off the end of the text box Word moves the cursor outside just right of the text box. Since it's a protected document, the user isn't able to type or delete with their cursor outside of the text box.
I've already tried disabling all add-ons and none of them were causing the issue. They only recently started having this issue and have been using the protected document without issue for a while. Does anybody know what could be causing word to lag and exit the text box?

Hi Doug,
Yes, I assume that's what it's called. It's a gray box that is the only location that can be typed in on the protected document. I wasn't aware that it was a legacy field though, was something newer created that it could be replaced with?
