I created a new section in my notebook yesterday today when I opened that notebook all my previous sections were deleted. I didn't delete anything or moved anything. I tried to look at deleted notes it was empty. I tried previous versions and there werent any. When I looked at the notebook details it said that the notebook was created yesterday which is false. I dont know how to fix this problem. Any suggestions? I did have a link to my shortcut of the notebook however when I clicked it said the notebook was expired or deleted or owned by someone else. I didn't share my notebook with anyone.

    Hello Araceli Vasquez,

Based on the screenshot you uploaded, we noticed that you have two accounts, one is a school account and the other is a personal account.

Therefore, we need to confirm with you which account you have lost OneNote notes. If it is a school account, then you may need to contact the school administrator to see if your note content was deleted by the administrator, which may be the cause of the problem.

In addition, if the OneNote notes under your personal account are lost, and you can see from the screenshot that you stored the notes in OneDrive, you may need to contact the OneDrive team and ask them to help you retrieve the notes.

As said at the end of this article, if you’ve followed the steps in this article and still need help, email the OneDrive support team.

Hope the above content can help you. If you still have questions, please let me know and I will continue to help you.

    Sincere greetings

I also know that there were syncing issues however the last time something was fully synced no changes were added to the notebook. At least some of the notebook should've been saved somewhere and every time I try a pop up says that they have been moved, deleted or i don't have ownership. Which i haven't deleted anything and it hasn't been shared.

I have the OneNote for windows 10. I did look on the web version and the previous sections arent there either. It does only exist for this notebook since it was the only notebook I had. There are about 6-7 sections missing. When I click the notebook created in 2014 it opens up the "new" one with the new section i made 2 days ago.

    Hello Araceli Vasquez,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Since there are many versions of OneNote, we first need to confirm with you what version of OneNote you are using.

What's the difference between the OneNote versions?

Did you log in to the OneNote web side to see if any other sections you created earlier in your notebook exist?

Does this situation only exist for a specific notebook? Are other notebook contents missing?

If you are using OneNote 2016, then you can go to OneNote File--Option--Save and Backup, confirm the location of your backup folder, and then go to this location to check whether the content of your notebook exists.

Also, can you reproduce this issue and record a video to share with us? Create a new section in another notebook and see if the previously created section disappears as well. When reproducing this issue, please take care to back up the contents of the notebook. You can send us the recorded video here.

Looking forward to your reply again. We have to go through a series of steps to find the real cause of the problem. If you still have problems, please let me know and I will continue to help you with the problem.

    Sincere greetings
