OneNote Collaboration Issues

Hi

We use OneNote quite a bit in our company, mostly for sharing between different departments, but occasionally we'll have a meeting where multiple people will edit/add notes to the same document at the same time and we always end up with a bunch of "conflict "pages afterwards.

We have tried using only the desktop app or only the in browser app, but it always ends the same way.

Is it indeed possible to collaborate in real time in OneNote?

Thanks,

R

    Dear rafcom12,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, we understand that you were working together on the notebook. Conflicting pages appear.

I found a similar pattern in our tests. It always has to do with editing a note by two or more persons (of which all of them can be "you" if you are accessing the note from several devices or OneNote versions).

Although OneNote is designed to allow multiple edits on the same note page at the same time it can not handle concurrent changes of the same object (which can be a text paragraph, a picture, inserted file, table cell....). We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

Right now, the only Work around I can think of is creating Pages for every different department. This allows you to edit on different pages, and I understand that this will add to your daily workload. Therefore, I also urge you to submit your feedback in Community (microsoft.com), and your feedback will be sent directly to the developers of the program. I'm sure your feedback will help improve the user experience.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
