Reset 2FA requirement

Can't sign in anywhere due to 2FA requirement. I did not setup 2FA for my work/school account so the authentication code does not appear on my mobile device. How can I sign in or reset 2FA to my current phone?

Login issues began with Teams, but now can't login anywhere that acct is tied to Microsoft programs or services.

    Thank you Diane.

It's a custom domain through Google domains. To my knowledge I was only using it for Teams. I never set up 2FA which is why I'm finding it bizarre that it prompts me to sign in with 2FA everywhere.

Who should I call for this issue? I could not find a phone number anywhere.

Is the address a custom domain you own or a Gmail address?

Are you only using the address at Microsoft for Teams or do you have other services linked?

Did you turn on and set up 2FA for your account? The other thread refers to a user who set up 2FA but lost the app.

I would call support - tell them you are the tenet admin and can't sign in. They'll ask for information to prove its you and can turn 2FA off.

    Hi Diane,

Thanks for the prompt reply. To my knowledge I'm the sole user of the tenant. The email address is not recognized anywhere "personal" account is required. I can only login using it as a work/school account.

If I click the "Forgot my password", I am redirected to enter the email/username and fill out a captcha. Then it asks me to fill out a code sent to the email (which I can, since it is a Google domain and I still have access to that). But then it asks me to also provide a 2FA code, which I cannot. So, I click "Contact your administrator". Then I receive an email at the same email address I am trying to recover... leading me to believe that I am the admin but have lost access since I don't know what the 2FA device is or how to reset it.

    Hello AAA,

I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP and I’m happy to help you today.

Are you the sole user of the tenant? If so, you need to contact office 365 support.

If you are not the tenant owner and this is a work or school account, the email administrator could be forcing 2FA. You'll need to contact your email admin, they can fix it so you can get in and set up 2FA.
