Sharepoint - Search results not showing

Hi there,
My company uses Sharepoint and my search function is not working - for me only.
I'm searching terms that I _know_ files exist for, but it will always say no results found. This problem happened out of nowhere.

I've restarted my computer, logged in and out, and have waited a few days - the problem still exists.

What can I do?

Thank you

    Dear Elisa,

Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As I understand you are encountering a situation where SharePoint search doesn’t display any results, despite the file is definitely exists on a site.

Use the * character as a wildcard at the end of any word in your query. For example, "micro*" finds documents that contain "Microsoft" or "microchip". Using * at the beginning of a word, or in the middle of a word, doesn't work.

Please make sure you have the permissions for this file. You may find out if you are able to navigate to the file manually and open it. If you're looking for something that you don't have permission to view, search won't return a result for it. This also means that two people might not get the same results for the same query.

Try to use another browser or incognito/inPrivate mode to narrow down the cache problems.

If you are a site owner, you may also check Site settings:

    1. First sign in to Office 365.
    2. Use the app launcher and navigate to SharePoint
    3. In SharePoint go to the Site where your files are located.
    4. Click on Gear icon and select Site information > View all site settings
    5. After that ensure the dot marked as yes for Search and offline availability is checked.
    6. Now Click on OK.

Go to the Documents page and then back to the settings icon. Choose Gear icon > Library settings > Advanced options. Make sure Allow items from this document library to display in search results is checked on that page. Yes is selected.

If none of suggestions above helped t, we would kindly ask you share some additional information to narrow down the source of this behavior:

    • Do you encounter the same behavior with all SharePoint sites or only a specific one?
    • May I know if the search doesn’t work with all requests or only specific ones?

    Sincerely,
