    Dear Maya,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I understand the problem facing at your end where the query properties are grayed out, and I would like to confirm some scenarios which will help us to better understand the situation and move further:

    1. If you click on the Queries & Connections, does it shows any error at the Queries tab or Connections tab?
    2. Can I know the Data Source used to get data into the Excel workbook?
    3. Screenshot of the Excel app Account page. Open the Excel app> Account> Take a screenshot of the Product Information and Version.
    4. Since you mentioned the workbook is inherited, can I know whether you are have access to the data source connected to the Excel workbook?

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator
