Track changes notifications Word/Mac

Hello, can anybody help me with a Word annoyance? Documents I edit for a UK client often come with the US dictionary selected by default. (I've tried to persuade them to do something about this, but they can't be bothered.) Selecting All -> UK dictionary peppers the Track Changes sidebar with hundreds of notifications. As does does a global search/replace for double spaces after full stops.

All these formatting notifications do an excellent job of hiding actual edits to the text. Is there a way to make them disappear? Simple markup is no use because then you only see comments, not edits. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hello penpontman,

Thank you for posting to Microsoft 365 and Office community.

According to description you are facing an issue where Reviewing Pane for Track Changes is filled with notifications when you perform Proofing Language change or Find and Replace double spaces in text, so you want these changes not to be included in pane.

If my understanding doesn’t match your situation, please post back to us and point that.

Track changes creates a notification in a pane for all changes by it’s category, so changing a proofing language would be marked as Formatting and Find & Replace as Inserted/Deleted. You may hide the certain category by unchecking them in Markup Options, but this will hide all edit changes by this category. And I’m afraid we can’t hide the certain changes in the pane.

We do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it. So to address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you kindly leave a feedback: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?

You may need to disable Track Changes before you apply the changes and enable it when you start editing a document.

Best Regards,

Igor

"You may need to disable Track Changes before you apply the changes and enable it when you start editing a document."

This definitely offers a workaround, thank you.
