Question

When I copy an image of an oval shape it automatically changes to a square shape on SharePoint.

This is the image I copy as you can see it's an oval shape

However, when I paste it on to SharePoint it changes to a square shape

The image is copied from a word document and pasted as an image format on SharePoint. Previously, I've had no issues and the image would paste perfectly fine but recently it stays as a square shape.

Dear Iqra Sajid,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft community.

You may try the save as picture in Word,

And the file type should be .jpg file.

Upload the image to the SharePoint and check if the behavior remains or not:
