Unable to Display SharePoint List Column in Form

Hi, I'm trying to include the Body column in a List's form in SharePoint, but when I check the column and click Save it just clears the box and doesn't do anything - the column isn't added. Any way to get around this?

Thank you.

Got it to work! I had to go to List Settings and change the column ordering so that the Body column was second. Then I checked the Body column on the 'Edit columns in the form' screen and it saved the change. No idea why that worked but there you have it.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to your description, when you select the Body column to show it in the form, the option will be unticked automatically. If so, I would like to collect more information about the situation. It will help us to troubleshoot further.

    1. What kind of column is the Body column? You can view the column type via List settings> under the Columns section.
    2. Please try to change to another browser and use the private window of the browser to edit the list again, check if the same situation still exists.
    3. Are your colleagues in the same situation when editing the list?
    4. May I know if the Body column has been added any JSON code? If so, what if you remove the JSON code and check if the situation still exists.
    5. Does the situation exist in a specific list or also in other lists?

When you have time, please feel free and come back to share with us.

    Regards,

    George

    Hi George,

    Thanks for looking into this:

    1. The Body column type is multiple lines of text.
    2. Same situation.
    3. I'm the only person who maintains this SharePoint site so I can't compare with others.
    4. There's no JSON code.
    5. It's only this list. The Body column had previously appeared in the form but I was messing around with some settings and unchecked it. Also the content type for the Announcements list and the test list are different. Not sure if that could have an impact:

    Thank you,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    ~~Sorry for my late reply.~~

According to the information you provided, I have tested on my side, and I can’t reproduce the same situation. Since the issue exists in a specific list, please check the following points:

~~1. Please create a new list view and check if the issue still exists.~~

~~2. May I reconfirm the current content type of the Announcement list is Announcement or not?~~

If the situation still exists on your side, I would like to suggest you use the Announcement app to create a new announcement list, then create/display the same columns, then go back to the original announcement list, click Edit in grid view, copy the data, go to the new announcement and paste the data.

    ~~Regards,~~

    ~~George~~
