Switching S Mode off and going to Microsoft Pro

I have been looking all over the internet to figure out this question... If I were to switch S Mode off of my Lenovo Idea Pad 3, & then upgrade to Windows Pro, would that work? I am uncertain about that working since I read that S Mode would still need to be enabled prior to the Windows Pro purchase.. Any guidance is appreciated! Also, BesyBuy Geek Squad doesn't know either.. Just want to make sure before I invest $100 and I'm not able to use the product... Thank you
