Excel for Mac - turn off automatic calculation for every cell in a column - stop doing this =[@[column name]].

I have office 365 for PC that I use at work and the same at home that I use on a Mac.

I noticed that one of the sheets I created at work (only one of them) uses some type of auto calculation where each cell in a column is auto calculated using information entered in the first cell of the column (where I'm constructing the function). Rather than do what I've always done (=A1-A2) as soon as I select the A1 cell it enters [@[column 1] so I get =[@[column 1]-[@[column 2]. This is silly. What if I don't want my formula to apply to every cell in the column? How do I turn this off on a Mac?

    Hi

This is the expected behavior when you are working in an Excel table. The steps you are taking to create your formula generated a "Calculated Field" with the syntax you described.

When you enter your formula and then press Return or Enter to register your formula, a small button displays. Click that button to control your calculated field options.

    Hello,

Per the description shared, I understand the concern at your end i.e, when you select the cell A1, it will represent as @[Column1] in the formula bar and you want to turn it off. Before we move further, I suggest you refer to this article: Implicit intersection operator: @.

So, to move further regarding your concern, I would like to suggest you share some sample screenshots of your Excel data or help us to share the problematic file.

    Appreciate your understanding!!

    Best Regards,

    Mia
