Checkbox Tags question

Hi,

I use OneNote for genealogical research. I have designed some forms that use a checkbox on every line. However, not every line needs to be checked, it's optional. So I don't want a Tag Search to list out every single occurrence of the checkbox tag. i would prefer to have it ignore the check-boxes in my template, and just pick up the ones i put in manually elsewhere.

So then found a form on the 'net where someone else has used check-boxes, but Tag Search ignores them. When I RMB on those check-boxes, they are also tags. So why are those ignored. Does it have something to do with whether something is a template or not?

So are there different kinds of check-boxes, some that come up on Tag Search, and others that are ignored (which is what i want for this form). It's easy enough to just leave it out and use a table cell as a checkbox, but i was intrigued that they seemed to behave two different ways.

I concur with Dwight regarding the use of checkboxes and their tracking within Tags.

Kevin-MSFT only confirms what we know.

Is there a possibility for the MS OneNote team to provide a 'Non-Tag' facility, similar to Evernote?

A checkbox list facility (Not tagged) would avoid the unnecessary clutter in the 'Tag' library when searching.

    Regards.

    Hello Dwight,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and appreciate your time taken for sharing detailed information. I could share with you some of my thoughts on this issue.

After our tests, if the checkbox of the imported form from elsewhere is not recognized by OneNote. OneNote only recognizes the checkbox tags itself. Checkboxes elsewhere simply appear in the form of graphic text and are therefore not recognized. This is a pity indeed.

Feel free to post back if you need any further assistance.

    Best Regard,
