undo "Hide header and navigation" in Lists

I clicked the double arrow button at the top of my List that said "Hide header and navigation" to see how that impacted the view. I cannot find the option to undo this action. I also have now lost the ability to export my list, filter my list, edit my list in grid view, etc.

If I create a new list I have the header and all missing options, so it is a setting on one particular List. I have dug through settings in Sharepoint and cannot find the one that turns the header and navigation back on.

The issue is easy to replicate. Clearing cookies in the browser fixed this issue for me.

Yes. The issue is you shouldn't have to clear your cookies and cache.

I was wrong about the issue being specific to Edge. It happens in Chrome as well.

    Hello Cameron,

Thank you for posting back and sharing the updates.

May I know if the other users encounter the same problem?

Does same issue occur on other browsers or in private (incognito) mode?

If the issue is gone in another browser or private mode, please clear you browser’s cache and check the results.

If the previous suggestion doesn’t solve the issue, for a further troubleshooting, please try the following actions:

    • Open the list and click Settings.
    • Look for the List Experience option as part of advanced settings.
    • On this page switch setting Index Non-Default Views to No.
    • In the bottom of the page Look for option List Experience and select Classic Experience and click OK.
    • Return to the list and check if the changes were applied, if not open your list in private mode.
    • Here you may return to Moder experience by clicking List in the ribbon > List Settings.

Unfortunately, as this is unusual behavior for SharePoint lists and as we can’t reproduce the same symptoms on our side, we can only provide the initial suggestions, so we kindly ask you to post back to us and share your results so we can investigate this problem. Thank you for understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Igor

When I selected "Hide header and navigation" that entire top bar went away. The option to select "Show" is not there. This is on the SharePoint site and the link does not contain ?env=

    Hello Cameron,

Thank you for posting to community forum.

Based on the description after you pressed the “Hide header and navigation” button the SharePoint list options have disappeared.

Usually, we can select “Show header and navigation” to expand the SharePoint view.

Can you confirm if your list is missing these options? If it is possible, please share a screenshot of your list.

May I know if you worked in SharePoint site directly or in List app?

As a suggestion please check the list’s URL address if it contains any ?env= parts in the end. For example: https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/YourSite/Lists/Formatting%20List/AllItems.aspx?env=WebViewList

If it does try to remove it manually in address bar and press enter.

    Best Regards,

    Igor
