Why is the Format button grayed out when I want to replace? I am reformatting an Algebra workbook, so I need to replace the formatting of specific characters (ie, the variables need to be italicized). I am able to find the formatting that needs to be replaced, but when I click on the Replace tab, the Format button grays out.

I am not seeing that happening here (tested in Word 2021, version 2205):
Is there something you can tell us about the document? For example, is it protected in some way? Or is it not in the default file format (*.docx)?
