special paste function in ms word

I have successfully used the special paste function in ms word to paste a conditionally formatted cell in excel keeping the excel formatting. This then automatically updates in the word document when the data or formatting changes in excel. BUT can I anchor to that specific cell? As it stands if the cell moves in excel then it is no longer linked to the word document as it is linked to the original cell name.

e.g data/formatting in F2 is now F3 as I've inserted a row in excel but the word document still shows the data/formatting in F2 but I want it anchored to the data, which is now in F3.

Is this possible?

You would need to set up another location that would not be changed (e.g. another sheet) and then in a cell on that sheet, insert a reference to the cell F2. The in Word, insert a link to the cell on that sheet.

    Thanks for your reply.

However does the $ not only work in excel but not in word? I'm trying to pull that particular excel cell through to a word document so that when new lines are inserted in excel the word document still finds the original cell.
