I am unable to move my table freely to allow for maximum page usage. Table properties are not available. How do I fix this without doing anything dramatic?

Is the Text Wrapping set to "Around" in the Table Properties dialog box?

To display the dialog box, use the Layout tab on the far right of the ribbon (active when the insertion point is in a table cell).

Actually, if you (even inadvertently) drag a table by the table handle, the wrapping is automatically changed to "Around," a perhaps unintended consequence that has caused problems for countless users.

Good point. I remember that this behavior caused a lot of confusion when Text Wrapping was first introduced for Word tables.
