Primary Email Alias Inactive

I have had this email address for over a decade. It was with an old tmobile phone that I cannot access and have not been able to access for years, yet all of my accounts go through it. I was able to change my billing email but I cannot change my primary email. Is there a solution to this? If you send an email to my primary alias, it will get returned saying it is not a valid email. There has to be something Microsoft can do to confirm my identity and allow me to change my primary email address. Please help. I will send Driver's License, or even video chat to prove up identity.

It should keep working and you can add aliases but if you only have a subscription (and not other software linked to it) set the sub so it will not auto renew then when it expires, create a new account and subscribe.

Hi Diane. It was a third party email address. Seems like the only fix will be to close this account and transfer my subscriptions to my current email.

    Hello Marcus

I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook, and I’m happy to help you today.

Is it an outlook.com address or from a 3rd party service that used outlook.com to provide email addresses to subscribers?

That message means the address is no longer valid. You can use the account if you have an outlook.com alias on it but cannot replace the primary address as the account was issued by the ISP.
