Dropdown Menu

Question

After setting up a dropdown menu with Data Validation, I used to be able to start typing and all the Entries in the list that had that combination would show up under the cell I was typing in. This isn't happening anymore and I don't understand why. Can anybody help?

Below I have started to type a name from the dropdown menu. Previously a list would appear underneath with all the entries on the drop down list that first started with but also contained the letters or numbers in the order I had typed. Recently this has stopped happening. Sometimes I get a name pop up, but only one of several that should appear.

Based all your description, we did tests on our end again ane we can reproduce the situation like yours. When we type the word in the cell, it doesn't show all the data in the dropdown list unless we click it manually like below:

Based on your description, may I know if you mean that the the dropdown list doesn't show the value you have set as the screenshot below:

May I know if my understanding is correct? If so, we did a test in our end and we can show all the entries in Excel as the above screenshot.

1. So we suggest you try to reset the dropdown menu use the Data Validation to see the result or you can create a new workbook to see if the drop down menu can show well.
2. Use online repair tool to check the result. Reference Repair an Office application (microsoft.com)
3. Meanwhile, make sure you have follow the right steps to set dropdown menu in this article Create a drop-down list (microsoft.com)

Hi Stacey,

I have the same exact issue today. I tried doing the workarounds on the reply you posted, but no go. Data Validation does not show options when you type in something on that cell, unless you click the drop-down menu. I am hoping you can advise us of any additional troubleshooting to fix this? Thank you!
