Remove Version History from Excel Workbook

I use an Excel workbook to collect operational information from my team members on a monthly basis. sending them a copy complete and send back to me.

My monthly process goes like this:

  1. Create from the master document (which has been in use for a couple of years now) a copy of the one worksheet team members need in a new workbook
  2. Remove extraneous data from the workbook
  3. Save this new workbook on my laptop (where folders are synced with OneDrive)
  4. Attach the workbook (sending a copy) to an email to my team members

Without version history, the workbook should be reasonably small (in April and May, before I started syncing my laptop with OneDrive it was ~50k). It's now greater than 250m and cannot be attached to an email.

How can I remove the version history in the workbook so that I can return it to a reasonable size?

    Dear StevenBergstein,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, please let us cooperate and please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

Since you mentioned, "Save this new workbook on my laptop (where folders are synced with OneDrive)" you may go to your OneDrive online location and select the file> click on three dots (. . .) and select "Version History" option> and delete the previous /old version history.
