Hi there,
When I enter "Tab" key right next to letters in OneNote, it automatically creates new table unnecessarily.
Would you please advise me how to disable the automatic table creating option and then to use original "Tab" function in OneNote? Thank you in advance.

Dear Flatwhite,
Good days, thanks for querying in this forum. We’re happy to help you.
From your description, it seems that you doesn’t want to create a table via click Tab function in OneNote, and you want to disable this feature.
May I know if my understanding is right? If so, we’re afraid that there is no out of box way to achieve your requirement. Generally, in OneNote, Tab key after typing a new line of text is used to create a table, as shown below:
For your reference: Keyboard shortcuts in OneNote - Microsoft Support
And per our test, when we pressed Tab key in the same line we have already added text to, it will create a table. And we may not find a way to disable it.
We’d sorry that it doesn’t meet your requirement, we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.
Personally I completely agree with you, this is indeed a good addition to the current features of OneNote. Thank you for bring thing to our attention. We sincerely recommend you go to OneNote Feedback community to vote this feedback: Make possible to edit the style of titles and remove making tables with the key 'Tab' · Community (microsoft.com) or go to SharePoint feedback community to provide your feedback: OneNote · Community (microsoft.com).This is the best platform to let related team hear from you and make the products and services better for you and others.
If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, you can also post back and point that.
Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

Your answer is very helpful. Thanks a lot, Bernd.
Microsoft, we shouldn't have to create a special autocorrect rule to make standard keyboard keys do their actual functions. I'd be interested in seeing the market research underlying the decision to make the "Tab" key create a table in OneNote. Please be aware that there are still people who know how to type and use their keyboards to do their jobs in OneNote.
