Office issues on M1 computer

I've just migrated my old Intel laptop "brain" over to my new Mac Studio (M1-max). Now my microsoft programs (excel, powerpoint and word) on the Studio do not run. After they get the license information from my keychain, I get the following message: "There was a problem with Microsoft PowerPoint and we apologize ..." If I click on the "More Information" button, I get the text below (top few lines only). I have deleted the apps, as well as the recommended files to delete in the ~/Library directory, and re-installed from the Microsoft site. Then restarted the mac. I have the "Open using Rosetta" box unchecked in the application information -- but it doesn't work if checked also. I still get the same messages. Anyone seen this before, or have any ideas how to fix?

Hi John -- Thanks for the good response. However, I have apparently solved my problem. The original migration from my laptop to my new Studio was done mac-to-mac, over my network. I decided to do the migration again using an up-to-date time-machine backup I had on a USB drive. This seemed to do the trick and my Office products seem to work fine now on the new Mac Studio.

Lesson here is to do the migration from a time-machine backup rather than mac-to-mac I think. ****

    Hi RC--,

Thanks for posting in the community forum.

We understand and we apologize for the inconveniences caused. I noticed in the error it says, “Blame Module Name: WinCrypto”, is there any application by this name installed on your device or perhaps the custom add-in in Word?

Besides, may I know if the error is appearing when opening a specific document or Word app from Applications folder in Finder itself?  The reason I wanted to confirm this information is that I wanted to evaluate whether the error is generation from a file or entire application.

Please try stating your mac in safe mode and check if Word app performs without any issue. To know how to start mac in safe mode, see Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Also, let us know if the same document opened in earlier version of Word without any error.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Your patience and understanding are highly appreciated. Stay safe and have a nice day.
